PCF Thrives as Peak Season Takes the Industry by Storm

As holiday madness sets in and peak begins to surge, PCF is here to break down the market trends that look to play a part as Q4 ends. According to UPS “There has been an 80% increase in e-commerce volume since early March.” As winter approaches the PCF team works to leverage our available capacity by onboarding more customers while also maintaining competitive rates. While we look forward to 2021, the remaining obstacles posed by 2020 cannot be ignored.

As a growing company PCF has not backed down from the harsh unexpected climate created by 2020. With the pandemic raging, peak season approaching and inclement weather at our doorstep, PCF finds itself with the ability to guarantee consistent rates and onboard bulk capacity. With our team growing daily, PCF is at the ready as other carriers begin to adjust rates and cut capacity.

The around the clock work of our team over the past year has proven to be more than worthwhile. Expansion of PCF’s facilities has awarded us the luxury of onboarding more and more clients, rather than following the industry trend of cutting capacity from the roster. In an interview with FreightWaves.com Rob Martinez, co-founder and CEO of parcel consultancy Shipware, LLC, said he “knows of one shipper with a $70 million annual parcel spend who was told by one of the carriers–Martinez did not identify the carrier–to shed 90% of its volume. The level of dumped business was subsequently renegotiated.” While the struggle of 2020 endures, PCF’s growth is expected to remain steady as we make our way through a historic Q4.

While PCF continues to onboard customers, we pride ourselves on the ability to guarantee the same rates BEFORE and AFTER peak. Following rate hikes, carriers generally find it hard to lower rates back to their original price, even after the crisis that caused them subsides. At PCF, our rates have been consistent since the start of the pandemic, providing peace of mind for our customers going forward. PCF is a company founded on the idea of maintaining customer relationships through transparency and a fair, firm and friendly philosophy. Through an unpredictable 2020 we have upheld that legacy.

As peak continues to pose challenges to the industry, PCF is working tirelessly to provide an outlet to shippers in need by offering capacity in a market where it is scarce. With a growing team dedicated to keeping costs low, 2021 looks to bring even bigger savings for our clients. As peak begins to set in, we will circle back in early December  to see how things in the market are going.
